Dog Starting

We offer a limited number of places for puppies to come and live with us and undergo their first obedience and exposure training. Placements can be anything from a couple of weeks up to 2 months and dogs are welcome to return home for visits such as on weekends. The best time to send your puppy is between 9 and 16 weeks - 80% of the dog’s brain still has to develop AFTER 8 weeks of age so this time, in a training rich and stimulating environment is very important. Some dogs 4 to 18 months may also be considered for placements.
Owners should join their dogs as often as possible to learn how to work with them and to develop their relationship and communication skills. Owners learn about dog psychology and how the dog learns. “Behaviour therapy requires not only knowledge about dogs but of human psychology”... it is often what we learn about ourselves that helps in training!
Dogs will be able to run on a treadmill, be good around horses, chickens, cats, various people, deal with cars and traffic and where possible (weather depending) learn to swim and will get to visit the beach. Owners get a DVD, written report, leash and bandanna as part of their package, those staying for a month or longer also get Cesar Millan’s book “Be the Pack Leader” included.
Owners provide their dog’s food/toys/blankets. Please note due to the limited places, there may be some waiting time between intakes. Older dogs also taken in for training and behaviour work but after an initial consultation as sometimes work is best done in the home. For in home training and behaviour work as well as for more information on the above or for a quotation please contact us.
Holiday stays are also offered, subject to availability, to dogs who have undergone eligible training with us.
